New Tunnels

For Summer 2019 we purchased a 'tunnel', an entry level polytunnel. it was not an extravagant purchase, it cost less than 100 Euro delivered. We decided to see how it would go.

The little tunnel proved to be a great success. We really engaged our creative and recycling skills by making a couple of potting tables out of recycled pallet wood. These allowed us to work in the little tunnel and they provided a place to place pots and seedlings. We also had room for three 'growbags'. The growbags were home to tomato plants.

Overall the little tunnel was such a success we decided to purchase a second for this year. I have to admit the cover of tunnel #1 didn't last the winter and blew off in the winds. I managed to gather it up and use it to cover the potting tables holding it down with a couple of lorry straps.

In the past month the new cover and the tunnel #2 arrived. We got off to a bad start, the replacement cover didnt quite fit last years frame. It was a pain as it was short, as in not reaching the floor. We figured out a solution using reclaimed pallet wood.

The we erected the second tunnel, all was good this one was completely new (frame and cover) or went up with ease. I used my pallet skills again to create a walkway in the tunnel as we are going to sow plants directly in the ground in this rather than in growbags.

All was brilliant, until on night one the second tunnel blew down .... dismay!

It was undamaged barring one small tear. This time we employed the same fix as tunnel #1 and got it all sorted out.
